Something and an idea I have been thinking about for quite some time. Since Donal Fagan posted about Dmitry Orlov quite some time ago on another blog. Dmitry Orlov  is an engineer who has researched and written extensively on the collapse of the Soviet Union and the coming or should I say the on going collapse of the United States. What precipitated and precipitates it, the stages and what the final state maybe. Having lived in both countries during this time period.

His latest writings have concerned what he calls Communities That Abide.  That is those communities that are socially, economically and historically stable. He does admit though that the particulars were not well received in a number of cases.
