Living in Denial

I was just looking at the news and views of the day and lo to my surprise I caught on the Political Animal where Steve Benen has a story up pointing to where fat ass made a flat denial that Reagan ever raised taxes.

Now I know Reagan is a god and all but in my oh so dark opinion of the world even god screws up now and then. How in the world the leading conservative talk radio host gets to pull this crap and hardly anyone notices or cares is beyond me. I wonder how many idiots will go to their graves thinking Reagan never raised taxes? Hell awaits. LINK

    1. Reagan was a serial tax raiser. As governor of California, Reagan “signed into law the largest tax increase in the history of any state up till then.” Meanwhile, state spending nearly doubled. As president, Reagan “raised taxes in seven of his eight years in office,” including four times in just two years. As former GOP Senator Alan Simpson, who called Reagan “a dear friend,” told NPR, “Ronald Reagan raised taxes 11 times in his administration — I was there.” “Reagan was never afraid to raise taxes,” said historian Douglas Brinkley, who edited Reagan’s memoir. Reagan the anti-tax zealot is “false mythology,” Brinkley said.

    Reagan did not have a problem with raising taxes.

    1. This is so crazy C. It’s such a blatant lie that Reagan didn’t raise taxes or was even a good president. How come repubs insist on this gross falsehood? Ever since the new congress came in the whole bunch are looking like pathological liars. Maybe they’re just following the lead of fat boy. Of course, I don’t know why anyone would do that either. A mystery wrapped in a conundrum.

    Listen to Gipper before his great Conservative ‘road to Damascus’ moment;

    Sounds like he could be a Kenyan, anti-colonialist, America hater.
